Fighting Games (3)
by goochie on Friday, February 22nd, 2008 (10:35)I fell in love.
I fell in love with fighting games.
I fell in love with 2D fighting games.
I fell in love with 3D fighting games.
I have been playing fighting games in the past, but not with such a passion as I do now. The gameplay is so dynamic, sometimes you gotta play turtle (defensive) and sometimes you gotta play pitbull (offensive). The key to success is to switch gears. It’s such a pleasure to let your opponent despair when he’s playing the pitbull and trying to hit you for fucking sake, but you are blocking, dodging or parrying every single punch, every single kick and every single throw. I really like to play turtle style.
No matter what game I am playing, I always play the defender role (you might know this if you have played CTF with or against me).
Well that’s true for 90% of the time. The other 10% are when I rapidly switch from defence to offence, it’s pretty surprising for my opponent and it breaks his routine. He has been attacking like a maniac and only a low percentage of his attacks hit, suddenly he’s in the defensive role and he doesn’t know what to do (unless he is experienced). Some will forget about blocking and get hit by almost all attacks, getting killed very quickly. Some will continue attacking, not knowing a thing about frame advantage (Frame advantage is when one of your attacks gets blocked, you’re either in frame advantage or disadvantage, meaning you are able to either attack more or less quickly than your opponent).
There’s one game where I play a different style though, it’s called King of Fighters (KoF). In KoF, no matter which version I play, I play 60% aggressive and 40% defensive. I don’t know why it is like that, there’s just something mysterious about KoF, but I guess that turtle style is much harder to pull off. It’s a pretty fast
Oh noes… (3)
by goochie on Friday, June 29th, 2007 (12:22)In case you get cut off from the internet for a longer period, do not turn on your TV. It’s fucking evil! It sucks you in like the big vacuum from Spaceballs. If you haven’t seen it yet, go for it! It’s classic.
What I’m trying to say is that once you watch an episode of those TV series that end with a cliffhanger… BAM! Game over! Drawing dead! It’s like the World of Warcraft effect, which fortunately did not eat my brains.
So now I’m sitting here, addicted to Lost, 24, Nip/Tuck, Weeds,
Prison Break and Grey’s Anatomy. I just can’t stand missing one episode, it drives me nuts!
But what are your alternatives?
Go read some books or eat a sandwich. Even watching movies is an alternative, because they FUCKING END!
But the best thing you can do is to dig out your mapping/texturing/modeling/coding tool and contribute to Warsow. Or just get some vaseline and start wanking.
I’m out!
